Saffron, clove, black currant
The opening sets saffron and clove, both spicy, against dark black currant. FragranceGems presents this as the entrance to an oriental bakhoor mood. Smell it early: spices tend to be at their sharpest right at the start.

Rose, violet, incense, tonka bean
Rose and violet meet incense and tonka bean in the heart, a floral and smoky pairing. This is the bakhoor core, where sweetness and resin touch. Give it time, since incense can feel closer or more distant depending on skin and clothes.

Sandalwood, cistus, leather, vanilla
The base is sandalwood, cistus, leather and vanilla, which FragranceGems calls rich and sensual. Cistus is resinous and leather is dry, so the question here is how much vanilla softens them on you. Check it late in the day.

What is bakhoor?
Bakhoor is the traditional Middle Eastern way of scenting a room or clothes with burning incense. FragranceGems uses the word for the smoky, warm direction of this perfume.
Is the leather harsh?
Leather sits in the base with sandalwood, cistus and vanilla, which FragranceGems calls rich and sensual. The sample shows whether it feels soft or dry on you.
Does black currant make it fruity?
It is the last of three opening notes, after saffron and clove. On the recorded order it adds a dark fruit shade to the spices rather than a juicy fruit character.
