Nishane was founded in Istanbul in 2012 by Mert Güzel and Murat Katran, and the name means mark, sign or symbol. Almost everything the house makes is an Extrait de Parfum, and each perfume carries a story: a shadow-theatre character, a line by Rumi, an Anatolian folk song. Several of the favourites now also exist in a reworked X version. Stories and versions are easier to choose between on skin, which is what a few 10 ml decants are for.

About Nishane
Four Nishane samples to begin with
Hacivat is the chypre built on pineapple and bergamot, with grapefruit on top, jasmine and patchouli in the heart and oakmoss below. Ani is calm and romantic: bergamot, blue ginger and pink pepper over blackcurrant, Turkish rose and cardamom, on vanilla, benzoin and sandalwood. Hundred Silent Ways turns tuberose, mandarin and peach into gardenia, orris and vanilla. Wūlóng Chá is the fresh one, citrus over oolong tea and nutmeg, on musk and fig.

The X Collection reworks earlier perfumes of the house. Hacivat X keeps pineapple and bergamot, adds pink pepper and lime and ends on patchouli and Haitian vetiver. Ani X opens with more citrus, lemon and honeydew melon among it, and keeps the vanilla. Wūlóng Chá X softens the first formula with magnolia and green tea. Fan Your Flames is coconut, rum and tobacco, Nefs honey, saffron, rose and oud, Meant to Be Seen violet and orris butter.
Shadow theatre, Rumi and a folk song
Hacivat is named after a character of the traditional Turkish shadow theatre; Hundred Silent Ways and Fan Your Flames take their names from lines by Rumi; Ani refers to the folk song Sarı Gelin and to the ancient city of Ani. The first collection of 16 extraits was shown in Milan in 2015. Our decants are filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us; they are not official brand samples.

Hacivat if you like bright fruit over mossy woods, Ani for spice and vanilla, Wūlóng Chá for a fresh citrus tea. Hundred Silent Ways is the white floral with peach and vanilla. Those four show the range before you look at the X versions.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again.
