Citrus, melon and water
The top holds seven notes: bergamot and lemon, watery notes and honeydew melon for a cool, juicy freshness, then cardamom, blue ginger and pink pepper for a light dry spice. The first minutes are crisp and full of juice, not sweet.

Lavender, sage and apple
The heart turns aromatic and green. Lavender and sage add a clean herbal quality, green apple a tart crunch, and blackcurrant, rose and patchouli bring depth and a little dark fruit beneath. This is where the freshness calms down.

Soft woods and vanilla
The base joins cedarwood and cashmere wood into a soft, dry, slightly velvety wood, with sandalwood for creaminess and vanilla for warmth that does not turn syrupy. Ambergris and white musk give a clean, smooth finish near the skin.

How to test it
With a bright start and a soft end, it can be tested in different settings: once on a warm day, once in the evening or on a mild autumn day. Apply to clean skin and give the citrus and melon a few minutes before you form an opinion of the heart.
Who it is for
A sample suits people who want citrus and herbs on top of a gentle vanilla, a mix between fresh and warm. It fits work days, relaxed dinners and travel. If you find heavier vanilla scents too much but still like a soft finish, this is worth testing.

What does the X stand for?
The X refers to the X Collection, the line where Nishane takes up earlier perfumes and revises them. Ani X is the revised version of Ani.
Is it the same Extrait as the full bottle?
Yes. It is filled from the 100 ml Extrait de Parfum bottle, so the concentration you test is the one of the full bottle.
The brand
About Nishane
Nishane was founded in Istanbul in 2012 by Mert Güzel and Murat Katran, and the name means mark, sign or symbol. Almost everything the house makes is an Extrait de Parfum, and each perfume carries a story: a shadow-theatre character, a line by Rumi, an Anatolian folk song. Several of the favourites now also exist in a reworked X version. Stories and versions are easier to choose between on skin, which is what a few 10 ml decants are for.
