Diptyque began in Paris in 1961 as a boutique run by three friends at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain, and perfume followed later. Its eaux de toilette and eaux de parfum are portraits of places and plants: a fig grove in Greece, sandalwood burned in Vietnamese temples, a river under a willow. Most are built on a short list of notes and wear lightly, so a 10 ml decant is the honest way to find out which portrait suits your skin before you buy a bottle.

About Diptyque
Four Diptyque samples to start with
Philosykos is the whole fig tree, leaves, sap and wood with a touch of black pepper. Eau Duelle takes Bourbon vanilla on a spice route with pink peppercorn, cypriol and incense. Orphéon is the smoky Saint-Germain jazz bar of the founders' youth, juniper berry and cedar warmed by tonka bean and jasmine. Tam Dao is the quietest of the four: sandalwood with cedar, cypress and myrtle, after a childhood memory of temples in Vietnam.
What to expect on skin
Diptyque perfumes are drawn in few lines. Expect one clear idea, a fig, a rose, an orange tree, that stays readable from start to finish. Fleur de Peau is the skin scent, musk with iris, ambrette and pink peppercorn. Do Son carries tuberose, orange blossom and jasmine on a marine accord; Eau Rose infuses damascena and centifolia roses with a litchi accord. Give the eaux de toilette a warm day to show their reach.

The house tells its story as that of three friends and artists who drew on nature, travel and art; founder Yves Coueslant's memories of Vietnam gave Tam Dao and Do Son. Each perfume carries an illustrated oval label with the boulevard Saint-Germain address around it, and the brand states that its fragrances are made in France. Our decants are filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us; they are not official brand samples.

Which Diptyque sample should I try first?
Philosykos if you have never worn a fig perfume, Tam Dao if you want creamy sandalwood, Eau Duelle for a vanilla that is more spice than sugar. Orphéon is the one to add if you like woody, slightly smoky scents with a soft tonka finish.
Are Diptyque perfumes unisex?
Nearly all of the ones we decant are presented for everyone: Philosykos, Tam Dao, Orphéon, Eau Duelle, Fleur de Peau, Do Son, Eau des Sens, L'Ombre dans l'Eau and Ilio. Eau Rose is listed as a women's perfume, though a rose infusion on skin needs no label.
Eau de toilette or eau de parfum: which Diptyque sample to pick?
Several perfumes exist in both. For our decants we chose the version with the most feedback: the eau de toilette for Philosykos, Tam Dao, Do Son and Eau Rose, the eau de parfum for Eau Duelle, Orphéon and Fleur de Peau. Test the decant first; the other version is a small step.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again. Only thing I hope is that you guys would negotiate better price for GLS shipping to Finland. But I know that is not always possible. And I noticed the prices were lower than the competitors so the steep shipping price was not that big of a deal. Good job all in all.
