Maison Crivelli starts every perfume from something its founder actually lived: Thibaud Crivelli sipping hibiscus tea in a gemstone market, finding passion fruit in an oud forest, crossing saffron fields in fog. The independent Paris house turns each scene into an extrait de parfum or an eau de parfum built on a contrast, fruit against oud, flower against leather. Contrasts are personal, which is why a 10 ml decant on your own skin is the place to start.

Which Maison Crivelli samples to try first
Oud Maracujá, by Jordi Fernandez, sets a passion fruit accord against oud, with saffron, Turkish rose absolute, leather and vanilla. Hibiscus Mahajád, by Quentin Bisch, is the floral: Rose Damascena absolute and cassis with spearmint, cinnamon and leather. Tubéreuse Astrale pairs tuberose absolute with a leather accord, osmanthus and cinnamon bark. Oud Cadenza is the gourmand oud, with cardamom, cocoa butter absolute and toasted tonka bean.
Extrait or eau de parfum
The brand states its concentrations: 30 to 32% for the extraits, 15 to 20% for the eaux de parfum. Oud Stallion is spice, oud and leather, Cuir Infrarouge a raspberry accord over orris, osmanthus and leather, Musc Nurāsana a musk with bergamot, Damask rose and olibanum. The two eaux de parfum are Iris Malikhân, orris butter with galbanum, vanilla and leather, and Papyrus Moléculaire, papyrus with tobacco absolute and black pepper.
A moodboard for every perfumer
Thibaud Crivelli was born in Paris and lived for more than ten years in several Asian countries. He briefs outside perfumers with a multi-sensory moodboard, and a creation takes from several months up to two years. For Safran Secret the formula is deliberately kept back; only saffron and woody notes are named. Our decants are filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us; they are not official brand samples.

Are all Maison Crivelli perfumes ouds?
No. Three of the ten we decant carry oud in the name, Oud Maracujá, Oud Cadenza and Oud Stallion, and Cuir Infrarouge lists an oud accord. The others are built around hibiscus and rose, tuberose, iris, papyrus, saffron or musk.
What is Safran Secret?
It belongs to the Mystères Olfactifs collection, where the brand does not reveal the formula so that each wearer discovers it personally. Only saffron and woody notes are named. That makes it a perfume you can only judge on skin, and a sample is the obvious way to do so.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again. Only thing I hope is that you guys would negotiate better price for GLS shipping to Finland. But I know that is not always possible. And I noticed the prices were lower than the competitors so the steep shipping price was not that big of a deal. Good job all in all.
