Fruit meets wood
A passion fruit accord brings a tart, watery brightness while the oud accord brings dry, resinous wood. They keep each other in check more than they blend, and that tension is the idea. The fruit stays on the tart side, so the oud has something to push against.

Rose and saffron in between
Rose absolute from Turkey and saffron form the core, in the brand's words. The rose gives the fruit a darker, rounder body, and the saffron adds a dry warmth leading toward the wood. They act as a bridge from the bright fruit to the dark base.

The amber settling
Vanilla, cistus absolute from Spain and benzoin from Laos make the amber base. Leather accord, patchouli oil from Indonesia and akigalawood add dryness and woody weight, so the sweetness stays soft and resinous and not sugary. Wear it late into the evening to see this stage.

Test the decant on an autumn or winter evening, on skin, and give the first quarter of an hour to the fruit before you decide anything about the oud. Wear it again on a second occasion, such as dinner out, and note whether the sweetness stays in balance as it did the first time.

Maison Crivelli starts every perfume from something its founder actually lived: Thibaud Crivelli sipping hibiscus tea in a gemstone market, finding passion fruit in an oud forest, crossing saffron fields in fog. The independent Paris house turns each scene into an extrait de parfum or an eau de parfum built on a contrast, fruit against oud, flower against leather. Contrasts are personal, which is why a 10 ml decant on your own skin is the place to start.
