Mango, lemon, ginger
Mango, lemon, pink berries and ginger open the perfume. The fruit is ripe and soft, the lemon cuts across it and the ginger adds a warm, slightly peppery edge. The brand says these fresh, exotic notes cover a warm character, so expect the heat to come later.

Coumarin, jasmine, dry woods
Blue coumarin, jasmine and dry woods take the middle. Coumarin brings a soft, sweet, hay-like smoothness, jasmine a creamy flower, and the woods stop it turning sugary. The fruit steps back here, and you can judge how the transition feels.

Stéphane Humbert Lucas is a painter and poet before he is a perfumer, a synesthete who says he sees his fragrances in colours. His Paris house makes, in its own words, no marketing concessions: the first collection, 777, launched in 2012 and draws on his travels in the Middle East, and the Serpent collection retells snake legends from Mexico to China. Perfumes built on colour and legend need to be worn to be understood, and a 10 ml decant gives you several evenings to do so.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again.
