A layered citrus
Bergamot, orange, litsea and mandarin make a layered opening: bergamot slightly bitter, orange and mandarin sweeter and juicier, litsea a sharp, lemony lift. It is bright and quick. This is the part that tells you whether the fresh claim holds on you.

Tea turns up
Oolong tea gives the heart a dry, leafy, faintly roasted quality, and nutmeg adds a little warm spice and sweetness. This is where the perfume changes from citrus to tea, and where the green side is easiest to notice. A decant lets you see how long that phase lasts for you.

Fig and musk close
The base is short and soft. Fig brings a milky, slightly green sweetness, and musk smooths the edges and stays close to the skin. The brand names Mediterranean fig in particular. There is no heavy wood or resin, so the perfume ends clean.

It is an Extrait de Parfum, so it is concentrated, even though its character is fresh. A light hand is enough, and the sample lets you find your own amount.
Is the tea note obvious?
Oolong tea sits in the heart, dry and leafy, after the citrus. How obvious it is differs between noses, and only a trial on your own skin will tell you.
Is this decant made by Nishane?
No, it is not an official brand sample. FragranceGems fills the 10 ml glass spray vial from the original bottle and labels it itself, and Nishane is not involved.
The brand
About Nishane
Nishane was founded in Istanbul in 2012 by Mert Güzel and Murat Katran, and the name means mark, sign or symbol. Almost everything the house makes is an Extrait de Parfum, and each perfume carries a story: a shadow-theatre character, a line by Rumi, an Anatolian folk song. Several of the favourites now also exist in a reworked X version. Stories and versions are easier to choose between on skin, which is what a few 10 ml decants are for.
