Demeter is an Eau de Parfum in the Velixir range, which FragranceGems runs itself. It opens with mint, lemon, basil and thyme, moves to rosemary, blackcurrant, lavender and jasmine, and ends with just cedar and musk. It is a garden of herbs on a dry wood base, and herbal perfumes are especially personal, so a 10 ml decant is a good first step.

Mint, lemon, basil and thyme
The recorded opening is made of mint, lemon, basil and thyme. That is a cool, green, kitchen-garden start with a citrus lift. If you enjoy herbs in perfume, you will notice the freshness at once. If not, these first minutes will tell you early.

Rosemary, blackcurrant, lavender and jasmine
The heart extends the herbs with rosemary and lavender and adds blackcurrant for a hint of dark fruit and jasmine for a flower. The recorded text speaks of a botanical, layered structure. This is the stage to follow, since the herbal and the floral side meet here.

Cedar and musk
The base is only cedar and musk. Cedar brings a dry, robust wood and musk makes it soft and warm. Because it is so simple, the end of the perfume is easy to judge: you either like a clean, dry wood after all the herbs, or you would have preferred more depth.

Put the decant on clean skin on a warm spring or summer day, as FragranceGems tags it, and wear it for daily errands, work or sport. Smell it at once, again when the lavender and rosemary appear and in the evening. A second day shows how the herbal opening behaves in different weather.
Who it is for
For people who like green, herbal and lavender-led perfumes and want something fresh for the warm months, with a simple wood base. FragranceGems lists it as unisex. If lavender or thyme remind you of cleaning products rather than perfume, the sample will show that quickly.

What is the Demeter sample?
It comes as a 10 ml decant of Demeter in a glass spray vial, filled by FragranceGems straight from the original bottle, with a label from us. Velixir is part of FragranceGems' own range of houses, and the decant therefore comes from our own shelf.
Is it very herbal?
Yes, mint, basil, thyme, rosemary and lavender make up most of the recorded notes. Lemon, blackcurrant and jasmine add citrus, fruit and flower. The sample shows how green it feels on you.
Is it good for sport or hot days?
FragranceGems tags it for sport, work and daily use in spring and summer. Wearing the decant in warm weather is the most direct way to see if the freshness works for you.

About Velixir
Velixir is a young perfume house from Indonesia, founded in 2025, that says it wants to "redefine accessible luxury in modern perfumery" and bring Indonesian perfumery to a global stage. The perfumes are Eau de Parfum and carry names from mythology: Icarus, Asteria, Aphrodite, Persephone, Poseidon. Because the range is wide and the names say little about the scent, a few samples side by side are the quickest way in.
