Dumont, which trades as Dumont Paris, is a perfume manufacturer from Dubai. Dumont Perfumes Factory LLC was set up in 2013 with its own factory in the city, and the house sells across the Middle East, Europe, South America and Africa. Its CEO is Alaa Al Jaber, and the guiding words in its own text are quality, luxury and elegance. The order below follows how often FragranceGems customers pick each Nitro. Nitro Intense is last for now, which says little about the perfume. Notes are given as recorded by FragranceGems, and all five are listed for men.
Nitro White is the most chosen, a strong Eau de Parfum filed under gourmand, oriental and woody. Juniper, iris and cypress open it, myrrh and patchouli form the heart, and honey, vanilla, amber, musk and leather finish. Sweet and dry parts sit side by side, so it rewards a full day of wear.
Nitro Red goes the other way. It is filed under aquatic, fresh and woody, with apple, lavender and bergamot on top, watermelon, cedarwood and calamus in the heart, and amber, sandalwood and patchouli below. A watery top over a warm woody base is easy to like on paper and harder to judge in the heat.
Nitro Blue opens aromatic, with orange blossom, cinnamon, sage, lemon and basil. The heart turns sweet, with praline filling, tolu balsam, woody notes and black cardamom, and the base is candy notes, black amber, patchouli and Brazilian rosewood. Herbs on top and sweetness below make an unusual pairing.
Nitro Green starts with vanilla, saffron and jasmine, which is not where you expect a green perfume to begin. The heart is lavender, green leaves, cedar, amberwood, ambergris and light amber, and the base spruce resin, earthy notes, cedar and violet.
Nitro Intense has the longest list: pineapple, black currant, plum, bergamot, cinnamon and cognac on top, a heart of birch wood, lavender, patchouli, myrrh, pepper, jasmine, iris and rose, and a base of amber, musk, sandalwood, vanilla and tonka bean.
The Dumont note map
Patchouli connects four of the five: White, Red, Blue and Intense. Amber does the same job across White, Red, Blue, Green and Intense, in several forms. Lavender links Red, Green and Intense, vanilla links White, Green and Intense, and iris links White and Intense. Cinnamon appears in Blue and Intense, and bergamot in Red, Blue and Intense. Are the Nitro perfumes only for men?
