Cherry perfume samples show how many kinds of one fruit a perfumer can make. Cherry in perfume can be bright and juicy, nutty with almond, dark with wine and spice, or boozy like a liqueur. It appears in around a dozen of our samples, mostly at the top, and the difference between them is mainly what stands beside it. This guide arranges eight cherry samples by what stands beside the fruit, with the notes as recorded.
Bright cherry
Reinvented Ethereal Soul is the lightest and the only one tagged for spring and summer. The top is bergamot, lemon and cherry, the heart blackcurrant, raspberry, freesia, iris and jasmine, and the base amber, mossy notes and musk. Cherry next to lemon and bergamot is crisp, and iris and freesia keep it floral.
Bujairami Red Static has the shortest list: cherry and pink pepper on top and Bulgarian rose and Turkish rose in the heart. No base is recorded. Cherry and two roses make a tart, rosy start, and it is filed for women.
Cherry with almond and rose
BORNTOSTANDOUT Indecent Cherry uses cherry twice, sweet at the top and sour in the heart. The top reads sweet cherry, almond and saffron, the heart Bulgarian rose, sour cherry, strawberry and mimosa, and the base vanilla, amber, Indonesian patchouli musk and benzoin. Our records list it as moderate, for spring and autumn.
Aroma Concepts Lush Layal Intense pairs cherry with cinnamon: cherry, cinnamon and pink pepper first, then powdery notes, milk and white flowers, and a base of vanilla, labdanum and caramel. Milk and caramel make the cherry creamy.
Cherry in a dark frame
Lorenzo Pazzaglia Cherry Ink is the richest. The top is cherry, bergamot, black pepper, rhum accord and black cherry, the heart red wine, Damask rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, mimosa, warm spices, ink and myrrh, and the base vanilla berries, tonka bean, precious woods, patchouli, benzoin, amber, musk and agarwood (oud). Red wine, ink and oud make it a deep evening Extrait.
Fragrance Du Bois Sirène is a Parfum for women, tagged strong. The top is cherry and pink pepper, the heart oud, incense and lactonic, and the base moss, benzoin, cistus, labdanum and cypriol. Cherry above incense and oud is a rare combination.
Mykonos Stilettos mixes sour cherry with berries: blackberry, sour cherry and mandarin orange on top, violet and jasmine in the heart, and cashmere wood, amber, patchouli, musk and vanilla below. It is another sample filed for women, and it carries the strong tag.
Cherry with violet and wood
Mind Games French Defense uses cherry with violet leaves and chamomile: cherry, violet leaves and chamomile, then geranium Madagascar, rose absolute and mimosa, and amber, cedarwood and blonde wood. It is more herbal and woody than the others.

Rose is the commonest partner. It stands beside cherry in Red Static, Indecent Cherry, Cherry Ink and French Defense, and the sour and sweet versions of the fruit both take to it. Pink pepper links Red Static, Sirène and Lush Layal Intense. How to choose
If you want a fruit you can wear on a warm day, take Ethereal Soul. If you like cherry with almond, take Indecent Cherry. If you want a serious evening perfume, take Cherry Ink or Sirène. Does cherry perfume smell sugary?
Not always. Sweet cherry with almond leans sugary, but sour cherry, black cherry and cherry with rose or violet can be tart and dark. The recorded notes tell you which kind a sample uses.
Is cherry only a summer note?
No. Only Reinvented Ethereal Soul is tagged for spring and summer here. Most cherry samples, such as Cherry Ink and Sirène, are tagged for autumn and winter, where the fruit turns darker.
