Fragrance Du Bois, from Paris, works under the motto “Born in Nature, Crafted in France”: the perfumes are composed in Paris, produced in Grasse, and most of them are sold as Parfum, the richest concentration. The brand says its signature is modern French perfumery built on exceptional naturals, especially responsibly sourced oud, which it blends with unexpected notes. A press release of 2017 says its oud is produced sustainably under a supply agreement. Each fragrance has a different master perfumer, and the bottles are faceted glass with crystal-studded caps. Oud Jaune Intense (2013, Natalie Gracia-Cetto) is a fruity floral: monoi, ylang ylang and pineapple, then jasmine and orange blossom, over vanilla, musk and Pure Organic Vintage Oud.
Oud Orange Intense (2013, Caroline Sabas) is a sweet gourmand: coconut and fruits, then Bourbon vanilla, over vanilla, musk and a discreet oud.
Sahraa (François Merle-Baudoin) is the house’s golden perfume: grapefruit, then rose absolute, geranium, jasmine and patchouli, over black pepper, sandalwood, saffron, vanilla, amber and old oud.
Oud Bleu Intense (2013, Guillaume Flavigny) builds on contrast: cardamom, nutmeg and mandarin, then frankincense, myrrh and amber, over opoponax, styrax, benzoin and oud. Cavort and Tropiques complete the ten.
