Saffron on its own
Saffron alone opens the perfume, which is unusual and gives the start a focused, warm, faintly leathery character. There is no citrus to lift it, so the first impression is spiced and dry. Give it a few minutes and it begins to open toward the heart.

Rose and incense
Rose and incense share the heart. The rose softens the spice with a petal sweetness, while the incense brings a resinous, smoky coolness, like a room where something has just been burned. Together they turn the dryness of the saffron into something calmer and more ceremonial.

Oud, amber, leather, musk and patchouli
The base holds oud, amber, leather, musk and patchouli: a dark woody core with a resinous glow, a rough leather edge, a soft layer of musk and earthy patchouli. It is the longest stage, and the one that shows whether oud suits your skin or not.

How to test it
Despite the name, try it in both warm and cool weather, since FragranceGems lists it for autumn and winter. Use a small amount on a clean forearm, check it after the saffron settles and again when the oud and leather appear. Two test days, one warm and one cool, say more than one.
Who it is for
For people who already like oud and want one with saffron, rose and incense around it, for everyday wear, evenings and special occasions. If oud is new to you, a small vial is the right way in, because this is a strong perfume and not a gentle introduction to the note.

Is Summer Oud made for summer?
The name says summer, but FragranceGems lists it for autumn and winter and rates it as strong. Test it in the season you plan to wear it, and in warm weather if you want to know how it behaves there.
Is it all oud, or is there more?
Rose and incense sit in the heart between the saffron opening and the oud base, so oud is not alone. The mix is spiced and resinous, with a floral thread running through it.
Which size suits an oud perfume?
The decant comes in 2, 5 or 10 ml. For a strong oud, 5 ml is a comfortable size for several test days, while 2 ml is enough for a first meeting.

Among its perfumes here as a sample is Ahmed Al Maghribi Ignite Oud, a leather and wood scent with oud in its name, the kind of perfume you want to test on skin before anything else.
