Atlantis Extrait from French Avenue is an Extrait de Parfum with an unusual line of notes: orange, mandarin and lemon, then watermelon and coconut, then cocoa, amberwood and ambergris. A citrus-and-fruit start that settles on cocoa is not a combination you can easily imagine, so it is worth trying on skin first with a 10 ml decant.

Orange, mandarin and lemon
The opening is a trio of citrus fruits: orange, mandarin and lemon. It should smell juicy and bright, with nothing heavy in the way. Use the first minutes to check whether you like this sunny start, since it is the part of the scent that will greet you every time you spray.

Watermelon and coconut
In the heart, watermelon brings a watery, light fruit and coconut makes it creamier. Together they give the perfume its summery, aquatic side, which FragranceGems also reflects in its tags. This is the stage to see if the creamy coconut stays pleasant or starts to feel too much on your skin.

Cocoa, amberwood and ambergris
The base is cocoa with amberwood and ambergris. Cocoa is the surprise here, a dry, slightly bitter chocolate note under all that fruit, while ambergris adds a salty, mineral feel. Wear the decant long enough to reach this base and decide whether the contrast works for you.

Put the decant on clean skin on a sunny spring or summer day, since that is how FragranceGems tags it, and wear it for daily errands, sport or an evening out. Smell it at once, again when the fruit settles and later when the cocoa shows. Two or three wearings will give you a reliable opinion.

For people who like fresh, fruity perfumes but want a little gourmand depth underneath, and for those curious about aquatic scents that are not purely marine. If you find coconut or chocolate notes unpleasant in warm weather, the sample shows that early and without a full bottle behind it.

What is in the Atlantis Extrait sample?
Each Atlantis Extrait sample holds 10 ml in a glass spray vial, filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us. This vial is not an official brand sample, and French Avenue stands apart from the decanting.
Is it a sea scent?
FragranceGems tags it as aquatic, and the recorded notes include watermelon and ambergris, but there is no separate marine note. Citrus, fruit and cocoa are just as present as water-like freshness.
Will the cocoa be sweet?
The recorded notes only say cocoa, and not how sweet it is. Next to ambergris and amberwood it may read dry rather than sugary, but your skin has a say in that, which is why a sample helps.
