The opening lists lavender, pear, grapefruit and pink salt. Lavender gives an aromatic calm, pear and grapefruit add juicy brightness, and pink salt brings a mineral, sea-air touch. Spray the decant once and notice how the herbal and salty sides meet in the first minutes.

In the heart the record names rhubarb, water blossoms and marine notes. Rhubarb adds a tart, green freshness, water blossoms a clean floral shade, and the marine notes a cool salt. This is the most aquatic stage, and it shows whether the scent feels crisp or watery on you.

How is the California Blue decant made?
FragranceGems fills a 10 ml glass spray vial from its own Mykonos bottle and adds a label. Mykonos belongs to FragranceGems, so the decant comes straight from the maker of the perfume.
Does it smell sweet?
The base lists caramel, so some sweetness is part of it, balanced by lavender, grapefruit, pink salt and marine notes. How much sweetness reaches your nose depends on your skin, which the sample will show.
Is it only for summer?
FragranceGems tags summer, along with daily use, evenings and sport. If you want to wear it in cooler weather, the decant is a simple way to find out how it behaves.

Mykonos is an Indonesian perfume house with a Mediterranean name. Its motto is "Born in Indonesia. Built for the world", the perfumes are produced in Indonesia and most of them are Extrait de Parfum, with a few Eau de Parfum. The range in Europe counts 49 perfumes across six scent families.
