Zest and pink pepper
Lemon zest, pink pepper and grapefruit start the perfume with a bright, slightly bitter lift. The zest gives the citrus a sharp, peely edge rather than a juicy one, and pink pepper adds a modern, sparkling spice. It is a crisp opening without sweetness.

Cedar, clary sage and ginger
Cedar, clary sage and ginger give the heart structure and depth. Clary sage is aromatic, ginger lively and almost fizzy, and cedar supplies dry wood. FragranceGems describes the heart as structured and energetic. The mood here is composed rather than soft.

A golden resinous base
Sandalwood, labdanum, resin and amber form the base. Sandalwood is creamy, labdanum and resin dark and sticky-sweet, and amber warm. The finish has a creamy, golden-brown glow, and the contrast with the citrus opening is large.

As the name and the four listed seasons suggest, spread the test: wear it once in warm weather and once in cold. Apply to a clean forearm, check the citrus first, the ginger and sage later, and the resin at the end. Compare your notes across the two days.

Is it really a perfume for every season?
FragranceGems lists spring, summer, autumn and winter. Test the decant in at least two of them to see whether it stays comfortable as the weather changes.
How is the sample prepared?
FragranceGems pours the decant from the bottle itself into a 10 ml glass spray vial, and we add our own label, so there is no doubt about what is inside.
Is the citrus opening bitter?
Lemon zest and grapefruit are recorded in the top, and both can be slightly bitter. The pink pepper adds spice rather than sugar, so expect a crisp start.

Riiffs calls its work "The Art of Fine Perfumery" and says it is crafted for connoisseurs of fragrance, with sites for the UAE, the UK, the USA, India, Qatar and the Netherlands. The same site presents Nusuk as a second label. FragranceGems knows Riiffs for its ornate bottles and lists four of its perfumes as samples, led by Freeze In Flames and Freeze, two cold, minty scents that are easier to judge on skin than on paper.
