Sugar and juniper
Dried fruits and cotton sugar open the scent with a dense, soft sweetness, and juniper berries cut across it with a cool, resinous note. See whether the juniper keeps the sweetness in check on your skin or disappears quickly into it.

Rose, saffron, clove
The heart moves from sweet to spiced: rose, saffron and clove buds. Rose adds petal softness, saffron a dry golden warmth and clove a sharp bite. This is the stage that steers the fruit toward the oriental side the brand names.

Balsam and wood
Sweet vanilla, amber, gurjum balm, cabreuva and cedarwood close the scent. Vanilla and amber lay down a warm floor while the balm and woods add resinous depth. The brand promises a warm trail, which the decant lets you follow over an evening.

Is it too sweet?
Sweet at the start, yes: dried fruit and cotton sugar lead. Juniper, clove and the woody base then pull it back, so spice and wood end up in charge.
