How to test them

Ask someone you trust what they notice, because your own nose adapts quickly. Keep the rest of the vial for a second and third try in other weather. Test it on skin and not only on paper. Spray it on the inside of your wrist or elbow and do not rub.

Start with 2, 5 or 10 ml and give it a few days, so that the first impression is not the only one. Two or three samples at a time is plenty; more than that and the impressions blur. A sample is the sensible first step: a perfume on paper and a perfume on skin are rarely the same thing.

Questions

Are these samples made by the brands?

No. They are decants: FragranceGems fills each one from the original bottle into a glass spray vial and labels it. They are not official brand samples.

Why do some perfumes show no notes?

Because we only print notes we can trace to a source. Where no note list is on record, the page says so and leaves the judging to your own skin.

What is a decant?

Perfume moved from the original bottle into a smaller vial. Ours are filled by FragranceGems into glass spray vials and labelled by us, so you can wear a perfume before you decide on a bottle.
