Which Goldfield & Banks sample to try first
Goldfield & Banks builds each perfume around a native Australian botanical. Eight samples in order of Parfumo ratings, and a map of the woods, moss and finger lime.
Goldfield & Banks builds its perfumes around native Australian botanicals: coastal moss, finger lime, desert peach, rainforest agarwood. Dimitri Weber, the French-Belgian creative director, founded the house around 2016 and pairs each botanical with a different perfumer, among them Hamid Merati-Kashani, Amélie Jacquin, Honorine Blanc and Clément Marx. The name joins the Gold Rush with the botanist Joseph Banks, who sailed to Australia on his first voyage. Bottles are French glass, and the Silky Woods bottle is lacquered with 24-carat gold powder. Every product page states how concentrated the result is, between 20 and 26 per cent. Most noses have never met these ingredients, so a Goldfield & Banks sample on your own skin is the honest way to begin.
Goldfield & Banks: eight samples, ordered by ratings
We ordered the samples on our list by the number of ratings each perfume has collected on Parfumo, as gathered by NicheGems. Rating counts show how widely a perfume is discussed, not how good it is. Notes are given as the brand records them.
Pacific Rock Moss (2016) was the first formulation the house made, built on coastal moss from the South Coast, with Italian lemon, French sage, Egyptian geranium, Virginian cedarwood and white musk.

Ingenious Ginger (2023, Hamid Merati-Kashani) centres on the native Red Back Ginger: bergamot, mandarin and ginger, then magnolia, over vanilla, amber and sandalwood.

Bohemian Lime (2020, Amélie Jacquin) is the citrus one, with Australian finger lime and coriander over vetiver, Atlas cedarwood and Australian sandalwood.

Silky Woods (2021, Hamid Merati-Kashani) opens the Botanical Series: cinnamon and tobacco leaf, ylang ylang and vanilla, then agarwood, suede, saffron, incense and sandalwood.

Sunset Hour (2021, Honorine Blanc) is a fruity gourmand built on Australian desert peach, with pear, mandarin, raspberry, jasmine sambac, green mango, coconut and salted caramel.

Silky Woods Elixir (Extrait de Parfum, 2023, Olivier Cresp and Hamid Merati-Kashani) goes darker, with fig and saffron, orris and guaiac wood, over vanilla, Oud Assafi and Australian agarwood.

Pacific Rock Flower (2025, Emilie Bouge) is a floral aquatic of sea salt accord, coastal tea tree, cocowax, tuberose and coral flower, over patchouli and Australian sandalwood.

Rose Magnitude (2026, Clément Marx) is the newest and described as a wild rose: raspberry, cumin and orris, then Damask rose, ginger and violet, over black vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and papyrus.

The Goldfield & Banks note map
Sandalwood is the thread of the house, in six of the eight. Vanilla sits in Ingenious Ginger, Silky Woods, Sunset Hour, Silky Woods Elixir and Rose Magnitude, and ginger in Ingenious Ginger, Sunset Hour and Rose Magnitude. Agarwood marks the two Silky Woods, cedarwood Pacific Rock Moss and Bohemian Lime, and aquatic perfume samples gather the sea-spray side. The oud samples guide shows where Australian agarwood sits next to other houses.
A first order of Pacific Rock Moss, Bohemian Lime and Silky Woods covers moss, citrus and wood. Add Sunset Hour if you want to see how far the house goes from freshness into a gourmand. The lighter ones suit summer, the darker ones the evening, and how to test perfume on skin gives a routine for both.
From Goldfield & Banks sample to bottle
If one holds up over several wearings, the bottle is the next step. Our vial is filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us; Goldfield & Banks is not involved and it is not a brand sample. The first perfume in full size is at Goldfield & Banks Pacific Rock Moss. The sample set page shows how to combine vials, and the FAQ covers filling and labels.
FAQ
Which Goldfield & Banks sample should I try first?
Pacific Rock Moss. It has the most Parfumo ratings of the eight by a wide margin, it was the first formulation the house made, and its coastal moss, lemon, sage and cedarwood show the idea of the brand at once.
Which sample has the Australian agarwood?
Silky Woods, the debut of the Botanical Series, is built on tropical Australian agarwood, which the brand says was sustainably harvested. Silky Woods Elixir is the darker extrait that returns to it, with fig, saffron and Oud Assafi.
How strong are these perfumes?
The brand states a concentration of essences and botanicals between 20 and 26 per cent on every product page. Each sample is labelled with its concentration, so you can compare the eaux de parfum and the extrait.
