Which Maison Crivelli sample to try first
Maison Crivelli builds each perfume on a scene its founder lived. Eight samples in order of Parfumo ratings, and a map of the oud, saffron and leather they share.
Maison Crivelli is an independent Paris house founded by Thibaud Crivelli, who grew up between central France and Provence and lived for more than ten years in several Asian countries. Each perfume starts from an experience he had with raw materials: saffron fields in fog, passion fruit in an oud forest, hibiscus tea in a gemstone market. Perfumers are briefed with a multi-sensory moodboard, and a creation takes from several months to two years. The result is usually a contrast, fruit against oud, flower against leather. Contrasts are personal, so a Maison Crivelli sample on your own skin is the place to start.
Maison Crivelli: eight samples, ordered by ratings
We ordered the samples on our list by the number of ratings each perfume has collected on Parfumo, as gathered by NicheGems. Rating counts show how much a perfume is discussed, not how good it is. The notes are listed as the house records them, as one flat list.
Oud Maracujá (Extrait de Parfum, 2023, Jordi Fernandez) sets a passion fruit accord and saffron against rose absolute and an oud accord, with benzoin, cistus, leather, patchouli, vanilla and Akigalawood beneath.

Hibiscus Mahajád (Extrait de Parfum, 2021, Quentin Bisch) lists Damascena rose absolute, vanilla absolute, leather, spearmint, cassis, ambrette and cinnamon.

Tubéreuse Astrale (Extrait de Parfum, 2024, Quentin Bisch) pictures tuberoses under the Milky Way: cinnamon bark, tuberose and osmanthus absolutes, carrot seeds, cistus, a leather accord and musks.

Iris Malikhân (Eau de Parfum, 2020, Marc Zini) is the quiet one, with cypress, galbanum, orris butter and mimosa over vanilla, leather, amber and musks.

Oud Stallion (Extrait de Parfum, 2023, Jordi Fernandez) draws on the founder’s ties to horse riding: cardamom, nutmeg, saffron and rose over oud, cedarwood, a leather accord, patchouli and roasted tonka.

Oud Cadenza (Extrait de Parfum, 2024, Jordi Fernandez) is the gourmand one: cardamom, cinnamon, saffron and an oud wood accord with cocoa butter, Madagascan vanilla, toasted tonka and myrrh.

Safran Secret (Extrait de Parfum, 2022, Gaël Montero) keeps its formula private; we record saffron and woody notes.

Cuir Infrarouge (Extrait de Parfum, 2024, Jordi Fernandez) takes electronic-music nights as its scene, with bergamot, a raspberry accord, orris and osmanthus over leather, oud, vanilla and tonka.

Papyrus Moléculaire (Eau de Parfum, 2020, Leslie Girard) pairs coriander, papyrus and sandalwood with black pepper, tobacco and a leather accord. Musc Nurāsana (Extrait de Parfum, 2026, Gaël Montero) is the lightest, with bergamot, olibanum, Damask rose, musks and tonka, and opens the house’s musk collection.
The Maison Crivelli note map
A leather accord appears in six of the ten, and oud in four, always as an accord or a base note. Saffron runs through Oud Maracujá, Oud Stallion, Oud Cadenza and Safran Secret, and vanilla through Hibiscus Mahajád, Iris Malikhân, Oud Cadenza and Cuir Infrarouge. Follow the others through leather, patchouli and tonka, and look at extrait de parfum samples from other houses for comparison.
A first order of Oud Maracujá, Hibiscus Mahajád and Iris Malikhân covers oud, flower and iris. Because these extraits are strong, the oud samples guide helps you pace the dark ones, and how to test perfume on skin gives a routine for judging them over a day.
From Maison Crivelli sample to bottle
If one of them holds up over several wearings, the bottle is the next step. Our vial is filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us; Maison Crivelli is not involved and it is not a brand sample. The first perfume in full size is at Maison Crivelli Oud Maracujá. The sample set page shows how to combine vials, and the FAQ covers filling and labels.
FAQ
Which Maison Crivelli sample should I try first?
Oud Maracujá. It has the most Parfumo ratings of the ten on our list, and its passion fruit accord, saffron and rose over an oud and benzoin base show the house idea of contrast at once.
Which Maison Crivelli samples have no complete note list?
Safran Secret. It belongs to the Mystères Olfactifs collection, where the house deliberately does not reveal the formula. We record saffron and woody notes only, and the sample is the way to find out the rest.
Are the extraits much stronger than the eaux de parfum?
The house gives the extraits as 30 to 32 per cent and the eaux de parfum we hold as 15 to 20 per cent. Each sample is labelled with its concentration, so you can compare the two kinds on your own skin.
