Which Orto Parisi sample to try first
Orto Parisi never publishes its notes, so each Parfum comes with a short story and nothing more. Eight samples in order of popularity, and how to judge them.
Orto Parisi is named after a garden: that of Vincenzo Parisi, grandfather of the perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri, which the brand says gave rise to the project. Gualtieri, who signs as The Nose and also runs Nasomatto, started the house in 2014. Its manifesto treats the body as a garden whose smells mirror the soul. Every perfume is a Parfum, sold in 50 ml with a hand-finished cap inlaid with natural materials such as horn, volcanic stone or a seashell. What the house does not do is publish notes. An Orto Parisi sample is therefore the product and the description at once.
No notes, only a story
The brand answers the question about notes by saying that The Nose does not reveal them. Each perfume has a short text instead, and the texts say more about a feeling than about materials. That is why we list no notes and why we describe each Parfum only as the brand does.
Orto Parisi: eight samples, ordered by popularity
We ordered the samples on our list by the position each perfume holds on the Fragrantica popularity list of the house, as captured by NicheGems on 7 October 2026. Popularity shows how much a perfume is discussed, not how good it is.
Megamare (2019) is presented as the sea itself, a vast unknown depth. Its cap is silver-coloured metal with a greenish corrosion and a seashell from Haiti. Our records file it under aquatic.

Terroni (2017) is about putting your hands in the soil and belonging to the earth. The cap is gun-metal with volcanic stone.

Bergamask (2014) is described as an extract that reveals itself very slowly and then stays to play, with a sharp sting. Its cap carries light horn from Ethiopia and Somalia.

Cuoium (2021) is the house’s expression of love for leather, which it calls contemporary paganism, and comes with a removable cover of vegetable-tanned leather.

Boccanera (2014) is covered in darkness, steals a kiss and leaves a spicy aftertaste on the lips, in the brand’s words.

Viride (2014) has a robust green character, personified by a Yemeni man in his floral crown, with a cap of guaiacum wood from Ecuador.

Seminalis (2016) is the house’s first stimulus in a bottle, built around an aromatic aldehyde that the brand presents as proof of attraction by smell.

Stercus (2014) is the honest side of nature, with a secret sweetness that attracts and an animalic side that, the house admits, can offend.

Risvelium (2025) and Brutus (2014) complete the ten.
How to judge a perfume with no notes
Wear one sample per day on clean skin, put a small amount on one wrist and leave it alone. Write down what you notice in the first minutes, later in the day and at the end, and do the same for the next. How to test perfume on skin covers the routine, and why perfume smells different on skin explains why a paper strip would mislead you with a Parfum this concentrated. Which sample size helps you decide how much to order.
A first order of Megamare, Terroni and Cuoium gives you the sea, the soil and leather. Our records list all ten as unisex and strong, which you can follow through unisex samples and strong perfume samples. The perfume glossary explains the Parfum concentration.
From Orto Parisi sample to bottle
If one stays on your mind after several wearings, the bottle is the next step. Our vial is filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us; Orto Parisi is not involved and it is not a brand sample. The first perfume in full size is at Orto Parisi Megamare. The sample set page shows how to combine vials, and the FAQ covers filling and labels.
FAQ
Which Orto Parisi sample should I try first?
Megamare. It leads the Fragrantica popularity list for the house on our records, and the brand presents it as the sea itself, a vast depth that needs no explanation. Terroni is the natural second.
Why do the Orto Parisi samples have no note list?
The house does not reveal the notes of its creations; the perfumer, who signs as The Nose, gives only a short text per Parfum. We therefore list no notes, and the sample is the way to know.
Are Orto Parisi perfumes meant to be strong?
All ten are Parfum, the most concentrated form, and our records mark every one as strong in intensity. Try a small amount first, on one wrist, and give it time before you add more.
