Opening: rosemary and bitter leaves
Rosemary leads, joined by red pepper berries and bitter orange leaves. That puts the herbal, green side of the pyramid first, with a dry sparkle from the pepper and a citrus that is more leaf than fruit. Notice whether the freshness feels crisp to you or slightly severe.

Heart: neroli, orris, jasmine
In the middle the scent turns floral without turning sweet: neroli, orris, jasmine and ylang-ylang are listed. Orris brings a cool, powdery softness, the others a pale warmth. This stage shows whether the herbs and the flowers sit together on your skin the way the house intends.

Base: vetiver and woods
Vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood and cedarwood form the base. Expect dry, earthy, woody tones rather than anything sweet, which gives the composition its upright, tidy finish. Compare that last impression with the opening, because a fougère often feels quite different once the herbs have faded.

About Amouage
Amouage has composed perfume in the Sultanate of Oman since 1983, with frankincense, myrrh and resins never far from the formula. Its Eau de Parfums are dosed between 20 and 30% perfume oil and aged for several weeks, so even the fresher ones carry weight on skin and change a lot over a day. That makes the house a textbook case for sampling: a 10 ml decant gives you time to live with the drydown before you choose a bottle.
