Replica Autumn Vibes follows one day in an autumn forest, with leaves underfoot, acorns on the path and cool air among old trees. Fanny Bal composed this Maison Margiela Eau de Toilette in 2021 from pink pepper, coriander and cardamom, carrot seed, nutmeg and olibanum, then cedarwood, moss and fir balsam. A woody-spicy scent like this one is easy to picture, but only skin can confirm it.

A clear, cool start
Pink pepper, coriander and cardamom, each given as an essence, open the scent. All three are dry, bright spices, and together they feel crisp and a little cool, like the air on a clear morning. There is energy in this start and very little sweetness.

Root, nutmeg and smoke
Carrot seed, nutmeg and olibanum form the heart. Carrot seed adds an earthy, faintly sweet root note, nutmeg a rounded warmth and olibanum a dry, resinous smoke. In this part the walk leaves the open air and heads towards the ground.

Ground under the trees
Cedarwood heart essence, a moss accord and fir balsam absolute close the scent. Cedarwood is smooth and dry, moss damp and green, fir balsam clean and resinous. The finish is earthy and woody, the trail of old trees the brand describes.

Does carrot seed come across as a vegetable?
Not really. In the heart it is a dry, earthy note that works with nutmeg and olibanum to give the heart its ground-like depth.
