Saffron is often thought of as warm, dry and leathery. What caught the perfumer's attention in this Greek harvest, according to the brand, was its clarity. The picture is of the spice in bright daylight and not in a dark market stall, and it is worth checking against your own nose.

About Matière Première
Matière Première is the house of one perfumer, Aurélien Guichard, and of one rule: each perfume is built around an overdose of a single natural raw material, named on its page. Finnish birch tar, Greek saffron, Omani incense, a rose he grows himself in Grasse. The project began with the first fields he planted in 2016. A material in overdose is either exactly your thing or not at all, so test it as a 10 ml decant before you commit.
