Mykonos Glitch is an Extrait de Parfum from FragranceGems' own house with a busy pyramid: Sicilian bergamot, apple, grapefruit and charred pineapple on top, six notes in the heart from lavender and artemisia to dried jasmine, and patchouli, vanilla and musk below. Six heart notes are easier to judge on skin than on paper, so a decant makes sense.

How it unfolds

Fruit with a char
Sicilian bergamot, apple, grapefruit and charred pineapple open the perfume. Three bright fruits meet one with a burnt edge, so the opening may feel juicy and slightly smoky at once. How much char you notice depends on how it sits on you.

A crowded heart
Lavender, artemisia, lily of the valley, pink pepper, vanilla and dried jasmine share the middle. Lavender and artemisia give it a green, herbal side, the lily and jasmine a floral one, with pepper and vanilla at the edges. This is where the perfume is most complex.

Patchouli, vanilla and musk
The base is short: patchouli, vanilla and musk. After the busy heart it settles into a warm, earthy and soft finish. Vanilla appears in both the heart and the base, so check whether it stays in the background for you or begins to lead once the lavender has faded.

How to test it
FragranceGems files it for summer and for daily, sport and work wear, so test it in warm, active settings: a walk, a commute, a day indoors. Apply once and follow the opening for a while before the heart takes over. A second test on a cooler day shows whether the base still pulls its weight.
Who it is for
For people who like fresh, fruity-herbal perfumes with some unexpected twists and who do not mind a long list of notes. If lavender and artemisia seem too aromatic for you, the pineapple and apple on top may soften them, and the sample shows whether they do.

What does charred pineapple add?
It is the unusual note in the top, set against apple and grapefruit. The word charred points to a slightly burnt edge on the fruit, and the sample tells you whether you perceive it.
Is it a sporty perfume?
It is listed for sport as well as daily and work wear, with an aquatic and woody lean in its tags. Try the decant before and after light exercise and compare.
Does lavender dominate?
Lavender is one of six heart notes, alongside artemisia, lily of the valley, pink pepper, vanilla and dried jasmine, so it is part of a group. Whether it leads on your skin is something only wearing it will show.

Mykonos is an Indonesian perfume house with a Mediterranean name. Its motto is "Born in Indonesia. Built for the world", the perfumes are produced in Indonesia and most of them are Extrait de Parfum, with a few Eau de Parfum. The range in Europe counts 49 perfumes across six scent families. A sample is the easiest way to find out which of those families suits your skin before you choose a 50 ml or 100 ml bottle.
