Dolce Melodia is Sospiro's sweet, soft floral, created by Christian Provenzano in 2020 and meant to linger like a favourite refrain. It begins with mandarin, orange and saffron, passes through rose, jasmine, gardenia, pear and blackcurrant, and ends on sandalwood, vanilla and white musk. Sweet florals can go either way on skin, so a sample is a gentle place to start.

Citrus, with saffron through it
Mandarin and orange give a juicy, sweet citrus start rather than a sharp one. Saffron runs through it as a dry, golden warmth, so the top is more than plain fruit. It is a mild opening that prepares the flowers and does not compete with them.

Flowers and soft fruit
The heart is dense with rose, jasmine and gardenia, with pear and blackcurrant putting juicy fruit between the petals. It is full and round, with the rich, creamy character gardenia usually brings, while the fruit keeps it from sounding too formal.

A smooth, milky base
Sandalwood gives the base a smooth, milky wood, vanilla a warm sweetness, and white musk keeps it soft against the skin. The finish is tender and cosy, the lingering refrain the brand has in mind, with nothing sharp or smoky anywhere in it.

How to test it
Dolce Melodia is soft and warm, with enough citrus and fruit for daylight and enough vanilla for the evening. Spring and autumn suit it. Wear it on a mild day first, one spray on each wrist and one at the base of the throat, and note how the heart opens before you add more.
Who it is for
Unisex, and aimed at people who love floral perfumes with a sweet, creamy side and want comfort rather than crispness. If you like white flowers softened with fruit and vanilla and prefer a scent that stays close to the skin, you will probably feel at home.
Why try Sospiro Dolce Melodia as a sample first
Gardenia and vanilla together are lovely for some noses and too rich for others, and the pear and blackcurrant make the sweetness fruity rather than plain. How these meet on your skin cannot be read from the notes. A 10 ml decant lets you hear the whole melody before choosing 100 ml.

Sospiro is the Italian word for a sigh, and the house, founded in Italy in 2011 and run from Dubai since 2022, writes each perfume like a musical score: top, heart and base as opening, development and resolution. The names follow suit, Vibrato, Basso, Mezzo, Bel Canto. A score only makes sense when it is played, and a perfume when it is worn; with 10 ml decants you can listen to several movements before you choose a bottle.
