The selection
Volare Sensorio Velluto
From Volare comes Volare Sensorio Velluto, an Eau de Parfum. On paper it lists Grapefruit, Bergamot, Mandarin, Ginger, Rosemary, Magnolia and others. The scent families on record: citrus, floral and woody. For season the tags say spring and summer. Smell it right after applying and again later in the day, because the first minutes rarely tell the whole story.

French Avenue Amber Empire

By family it is filed as gourmand, oriental and woody. The listing names autumn and winter as its season. Clothes hold a scent differently from skin, which makes a scarf or sleeve a useful second test.

Afnan Lynked Forever
With Afnan Lynked Forever, Afnan has a Parfum for which Mandarin, Berries, Gardenia, Ylang-Ylang, Tuberose, Musk and others are on record. It is tagged floral and woody. It is listed for spring and summer. What reads as sweet on one person can read as dry on another.

How to test them
Start light; you can always add a spray on the next wearing. Apply one or two sprays to clean skin, without other scented products nearby. Keep the rest of the vial for a second and third try in other weather. Spray it on the inside of your wrist or elbow and do not rub.
With 2, 5 or 10 ml in a glass spray vial you can find out how it behaves on your skin, at your own pace. Give every sample its own day, and come back to the one you keep thinking about. A decant gives you time with it, which a quick spray on a paper strip never does.

Questions
Are these samples made by the brands?
No. They are decants: FragranceGems fills each one from the original bottle into a glass spray vial and labels it. They are not official brand samples.
Which sizes do the samples come in?
Every sample comes as 2, 5 or 10 ml in a glass spray vial. The smallest is enough for a first impression, the larger ones for many wearings.
What is a decant?
Perfume moved from the original bottle into a smaller vial. Ours are filled by FragranceGems into glass spray vials and labelled by us, so you can wear a perfume before you decide on a bottle.
