Which BORNTOSTANDOUT sample to try first
BORNTOSTANDOUT is a Seoul house with provocative names and dense gourmand formulas. Eight samples in order of Parfumo ratings, and a map of the vanilla, saffron and fruit.
BORNTOSTANDOUT is a Seoul house launched in April 2022 under the motto “We rebel against the standards”. The names are deliberately provocative, Dirty Rice, Fig Porn, Drunk Lovers, but the formulas are serious: each is composed by a credited outside perfumer, among them Olivier Cresp, Hamid Merati-Kashani, Florian Gallo and Quentin Bisch. The Eau de Parfum line is stated at 30 to 40 per cent fragrance concentration, and the Extrait Extrême line at 55 to 62 per cent, aged three months in Onggi, traditional Korean pottery. The white bottles with red lettering reinterpret Joseon-era porcelain. Perfumes this dense and this gourmand deserve a skin test before a full bottle, which is what a BORNTOSTANDOUT sample is for.
BORNTOSTANDOUT: eight samples, ordered by ratings
We ordered the samples on our list by the number of ratings each perfume has collected on Parfumo, as gathered by NicheGems. Rating counts show how widely a perfume is discussed, not how good it is. Notes are given as the house records them.
Dirty Rice (2022, Olivier Cresp) is a scent about skin-to-skin intimacy: bergamot and almond, then basmati rice, peony and milk, over sandalwood, vetiver, cedarwood, musk and Cetalox.

Fig Porn (2022, Florian Gallo) sets ripe fig and pear against peony, Turkish rose and cedarwood, over amber, vanilla, musk and sandalwood.

Drunk Lovers (2023, Hamid Merati-Kashani) is a boozy night: citrus, juniper and red berries, then brandy, pepper, ginger and clary sage, over amber, sandalwood, vanilla, benzoin, cardamom and cinnamon bark.

Sugar Addict (2023, Anne-Sophie Behaghel) is the pure gourmand: sugar and cinnamon, then cocoa and coffee extract, over tonka bean, vanilla absolute, rum, labdanum and cashmere wood.

Purple Stain (Extrait de Parfum, 2025, Jordi Fernández) spreads like wine on an old journal: saffron, cinnamon bark and nutmeg, then orange blossom, caramel and Peru balsam, over Akigalawood, oud, patchouli and cypriol.

Indecent Cherry (2022, Florian Gallo) is a good girl gone bad: sweet cherry, almond and saffron, then Bulgarian rose, sour cherry, strawberry and mimosa, over vanilla, amber, patchouli and benzoin.

Drunk Saffron (2022, Honorine Blanc) is a velvet-dark night: plum and brandy, then saffron, leather and coffee, over Indonesian patchouli, vanilla and musk.

Dirty Heaven (2023, Margaux Le Paih-Guérin) is the brightest: bergamot, jasmine and neroli, over tonka bean, saffron, ambroxan, vanilla, white musks and grey amber. Dirty Milk and Black Crème complete the ten.

The BORNTOSTANDOUT note map
Vanilla sits in seven of the eight, and saffron in Purple Stain, Indecent Cherry, Drunk Saffron and Dirty Heaven. Cherry belongs to Indecent Cherry, fig to Fig Porn, rum to Sugar Addict, and coffee to Sugar Addict and Drunk Saffron. Caramel links Purple Stain and Dirty Milk, and cocoa sits in Sugar Addict. The vanilla samples guide places the house among others, and gourmand perfume samples gathers the sweet side.
A first order of Dirty Rice, Fig Porn and Dirty Heaven covers rice, fruit and flowers, the lighter end of the range. The boozy and sugary ones suit the evening and winter, and how to test perfume on skin gives a simple routine.
From BORNTOSTANDOUT sample to bottle
If one holds up over several wearings, the bottle is the next step. Our vial is filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us; BORNTOSTANDOUT is not involved and it is not a brand sample. The first perfume in full size is at BORNTOSTANDOUT Dirty Rice. The sample set page shows how to combine vials, and the FAQ covers filling and labels.
FAQ
Which BORNTOSTANDOUT sample should I try first?
Dirty Rice. It has the most Parfumo ratings of the ten on our list, and its basmati rice accord with milk and peony between bergamot, almond and a musky sandalwood base is the house in one vial.
How strong are these perfumes?
The brand states a concentration of 30 to 40 per cent for its Eau de Parfum line and 55 to 62 per cent for the Extrait Extrême line. They are dense, so one sample per day on a small area is a fair way to test.
Are the provocative names a guide to the smell?
Only loosely. The names are deliberately provocative, but the notes are what count: Fig Porn is fig and pear, Drunk Lovers is brandy and ginger, Dirty Heaven is jasmine and neroli. Read the note lists, not the names.
