Drunk Lovers comes from BORNTOSTANDOUT, a Seoul house, and the Eau de Parfum was composed by Hamid Merati-Kashani. It is staged as a warm, boozy night, with citrus and juniper at the start, brandy, ginger and pepper in the middle and a long base of amber, sandalwood and vanilla. With ten base notes, it is a rich scent to try on your own skin first.

A quick, sharp start
The top is crowded and brief: citronella, bergamot, lemon and grapefruit make a sharp citrus, juniper adds a dry resinous line, and red berries add a small fruity flush. When you test the decant, do not judge here. This part moves on fast and says little about the rest.

Where it turns warm
Brandy supplies the boozy centre, ginger and pepper add heat, and clary sage with cypress keeps a green thread through it. This is the stage that tells you whether the scent is for you, because a boozy heart is a matter of taste. Wear the decant long enough to reach it.

A long amber base
Amber, benzoin and vanilla form a smooth, sweet resin, while sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli and vetiver bring dry depth. Cardamom and cinnamon bark keep a spiced warmth moving through the musk. A dense base like this deserves several test days, not a single spray on a card.

How to test it
This is an evening perfume, so test it in the evening and in cooler weather, when spice and amber have room. Apply the decant on skin you can smell later, then return to it as the night goes on. Try it once at dinner and once on a quiet day at home, and note whether the brandy feels welcome or too heavy.
Who it is for
BORNTOSTANDOUT classes it as unisex. It suits people who like warm, spiced, slightly boozy scents with a bright opening, and who are happy to wear something with presence. If you prefer clean or watery perfumes, the brandy and the amber may feel too rich, and the sample will show you that before you commit.

Which version is the decant?
The Eau de Parfum, which the brand lists separately from its Drunk Lovers Extrait Extrême. FragranceGems fills it from the original bottle into a 10 ml glass spray vial and labels it. The house is not involved.
Is the decant a brand sample?
No. It is our own filling, not made or supplied by BORNTOSTANDOUT, and we are not affiliated with the brand. What you receive is the same Eau de Parfum, simply moved into a smaller vial.
How many test days does a decant give me?
Enough for several. A 10 ml decant means many wearings, so you can try Drunk Lovers in the evening, on a cold day and on a mild one before you decide on a bottle.
Is it very sweet?
It has sweet parts, with vanilla and benzoin in the base, but ginger, pepper, juniper and cypress add dry, green lines. Whether the balance feels right is personal, which is what the sample answers.

About BORNTOSTANDOUT
BORNTOSTANDOUT is a Seoul house launched in April 2022 under the motto 'We rebel against the standards'. The names are deliberately provocative, Dirty Rice, Fig Porn, Drunk Lovers, but the formulas are serious: each is composed by a credited outside perfumer and the Eau de Parfum line is dosed at 30 to 40% fragrance concentration. Perfumes this dense and this gourmand deserve a skin test before a full bottle, which is what our 10 ml decants are for.
