Basmati rice, peony and milk on soft woods
Olivier Cresp built Dirty Rice for BORNTOSTANDOUT around an unusual centre, a warm, slightly sweet basmati rice accord with peony and milk, framed by bergamot and almond above and woods and musk below. For the brand it is a scent about closeness. Because rice is rarely a perfume note, a 10 ml decant is a sensible way to find out how it behaves on you.

A short, bright doorway
Bergamot and almond open the scent. The bergamot gives a clean lift and the almond softens it at once, so the citrus never gets sharp. This stage is brief, and it mainly leads you towards the rice that takes over once the citrus has gone.

Rice, peony, milk
The heart is warm and a little creamy. Peony adds a light floral softness, milk deepens the creamy side, and the three together read as one gentle warmth rather than separate notes. Nothing is loud, and it stays close to the skin.

Woods and a skin-like finish
Sandalwood, vetiver and cedarwood give the base a dry, woody frame, and musk with Cetalox keeps it soft and clean. The brand's idea of closeness shows here: calm woods that settle on skin, with no heavy sugar at the end.

Dirty Rice is quiet, so test it on a day that is quiet too: at your desk, on a calm evening, with people you sit near. Apply it to the neck and wrists and notice how the woods and musk come forward as the Eau de Parfum settles. Wear it on two different days before you decide.
Who it is for
Unisex, and suited to people who like gentle, creamy scents with a little texture rather than loud sweetness. If you expect fruit or dessert notes from a perfume with rice and milk, you will find it more restrained, closer to a woody, milky skin scent.

About BORNTOSTANDOUT
BORNTOSTANDOUT is a Seoul house launched in April 2022 under the motto 'We rebel against the standards'. The names are deliberately provocative, Dirty Rice, Fig Porn, Drunk Lovers, but the formulas are serious: each is composed by a credited outside perfumer and the Eau de Parfum line is dosed at 30 to 40% fragrance concentration. Perfumes this dense and this gourmand deserve a skin test before a full bottle, which is what our 10 ml decants are for.
