Smoke and spice at the start
Alcoholic notes, saffron, cardamom and cade oil open the perfume. Cade oil is smoky and tarry, saffron adds a leathery spice, and cardamom lifts them. FragranceGems describes the opening as smoky and instantly recognisable, so the first minutes are the most distinctive.

Coffee, benzoin and suede
The heart has coffee, benzoin and suede. Coffee adds a roasted, bittersweet warmth, benzoin a soft vanilla-like resin, and suede a smooth leathery touch. FragranceGems calls the result a dark gourmand, and this is where the perfume earns that label.

A sweet, woody foundation
Guaiac wood, tonka bean, labdanum, vanilla and amberwood form the base. Guaiac adds smoky wood, tonka and vanilla sweeten, and labdanum and amberwood bring resin and warmth. The finish is creamy and woody, gentler and sweeter than the opening.

Wear a small amount on a clean forearm in the evening, which is where FragranceGems places it. Check how the smoke of the opening settles into coffee, then into vanilla and wood. A second test on a cooler evening shows whether the sweetness feels welcome.

Is the smoke overpowering?
Cade oil is part of the opening, but the base turns sweet and woody. How strongly the smoke registers is personal, and the decant lets you check that without committing.
What is in the vial?
Each 10 ml glass spray vial is filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle and then labelled by us, so there is no doubt about what is inside.
Is it a coffee perfume?
Coffee is one of three notes in the heart, alongside benzoin and suede. FragranceGems calls the style a dark gourmand, so coffee is part of the character rather than the whole.

Rayhaan makes Eau de Parfum with a warm, oriental signature, and FragranceGems has carried the house long enough to sell more than twenty of its perfumes as samples.
