Mykonos is an Indonesian perfume house with a Mediterranean name. Its motto is "Born in Indonesia. Built for the world", the perfumes are produced in Indonesia and most of them are Extrait de Parfum, with a few Eau de Parfum. The range in Europe spans six scent families. A sample is the easiest way to find out which of those families suits your skin before you choose a 50 ml or 100 ml bottle.

About Mykonos

An Indonesian house with sun in its name

The house describes its origin as a deliberate choice: the perfumes are made locally in Indonesia, and every one of them carries a BPOM notification number from the Indonesian food and drug authority. The name points elsewhere, to white walls and a blue sea, and that mood runs through the collection. Mykonos composes in six families: Citrus, Floral, Fruity, Woody and Vanilla, Gourmand and Musky, for her, for him and unisex.

Extrait first

Most Mykonos perfumes are sold as Extrait de Parfum, the most concentrated form the house offers, next to a smaller group of Eau de Parfum. On skin that usually means a slower development and a drydown that stays close to the skin, which is exactly why a few days with a sample tell you more than a quick spray on paper. A handful of perfumes were made with partners: Empire with RRQ, Glitch and Invade with SetiawanAde, MyEgo with AlterEgo.

Where to start

Mykonos Inception is the Mykonos perfume ordered most often as a sample at FragranceGems: bergamot, ginger, orange and lemon over neroli, cinnamon and black tea, on guaiac wood, musk and cedarwood. Mykonos Sorrento opens with mandarin, bergamot, lemon and orange, turns to orange blossom, ylang-ylang and jasmine and settles on cedar and sandalwood. Mykonos Dreamscape is the gourmand side: mango, lemon and rhubarb over violet, ginger, jasmine and praline.

Start with the family you already like. Mykonos Inception for citrus with ginger and black tea, Mykonos Sorrento for citrus and white flowers, Mykonos Reflection for a fruity floral, Mykonos Dreamscape for something sweet and warm, Mykonos Empire for a fresh everyday scent.

Are Mykonos samples Extrait de Parfum?

The sample contains the same liquid as the bottle it was filled from. Most Mykonos perfumes are Extrait de Parfum; Empire, Bonfire Vanilla, Baby Love, California Club, Royal Ispahan and Crimson are Eau de Parfum. The concentration is stated on each sample page.

How is a Mykonos sample made?

FragranceGems fills each sample from the original Mykonos bottle into a glass spray vial and labels it by hand. It is our decant, not a sample issued by the house, and we are not affiliated with the brand.
