Mykonos MyEgo is an Extrait de Parfum from FragranceGems' own house with a modern, airy list: muscat grapes, pink pepper, bergamot and aldehydes on top, amber, jasmine and geranium in the heart, musk, vanilla, transparent wood and Iso E Super underneath. Aldehydes and Iso E Super are notes that some people love and others find clinical, so a 10 ml decant is a fair first test.

Grapes and aldehydes
Muscat grapes, pink pepper, bergamot and aldehydes start the perfume. The grapes bring a juicy sweetness, bergamot a citrus edge, and aldehydes a clean, sparkling lift. Expect brightness first, with the pepper only as a thin thread.

Amber, jasmine and geranium
Amber, jasmine and geranium form the heart. Jasmine and geranium are floral and slightly green, and amber warms them. This is the stage where the perfume turns from airy to rounder, and the place to smell your skin with attention.

Musk, vanilla and transparent wood
Musk, vanilla, transparent wood and Iso E Super close the perfume. Together they point to a smooth, quiet, skin-close finish with a faint sweetness. If you like perfumes that end as a soft aura rather than a trail, this is your stage.

How to test it
As an extrait it is meant to be used lightly, so apply once and wait. FragranceGems files it for daily, evening and special occasions and for autumn and winter, which gives you several settings to try. Wear it on a day indoors, then outdoors, and compare how the aldehydes behave.
Who it is for
For people who like modern, fresh-woody perfumes with a smooth musky base, and who are curious about notes such as aldehydes and Iso E Super. If you prefer richly gourmand extraits, you will learn quickly that this one goes in another direction.

A fresh, abstract extrait is easy to misjudge from a note list, because aldehydes and transparent woods are about feel, not flavour. Mykonos is our own house, and the vial is filled at FragranceGems from the original bottle and labelled by us. It is a decant, not a separate brand product.

What are aldehydes doing in the opening?
Aldehydes are recorded in the top beside muscat grapes, pink pepper and bergamot. They usually add a clean, sparkling effect, and the sample shows whether you enjoy it.
Is the vial an extrait too?
Yes. The decant holds the same Extrait de Parfum as the bottle, poured by FragranceGems without any change to the concentration.
Is it too fresh for winter?
It is filed under autumn and winter as well as fresh and woody, and the vanilla and musk in the base give it something to hold on to. Wear it on a cold day and see whether the base carries it.

Mykonos is an Indonesian perfume house with a Mediterranean name. Its motto is "Born in Indonesia. Built for the world", the perfumes are produced in Indonesia and most of them are Extrait de Parfum, with a few Eau de Parfum. The range in Europe spans six scent families. A sample is the easiest way to find out which of those families suits your skin before you choose a 50 ml or 100 ml bottle.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again.
