Double Attack is Mind Games' chocolate perfume, composed by Christelle Laprade as an Extrait de Parfum: bittersweet dark chocolate and vanilla over woods, opened by orange bitters, spices and florals. Bitters, pimento and pepper
Orange bitters, pimento oil and pink pepper open the scent. The bitters give a dry citrus edge, pimento a warm spice and pink pepper a sparkle. Chocolate is not the first thing you meet, which is part of why this does not feel like a dessert.

Agave flower, cinnamon, geranium
The heart is agave flower with Madagascar cinnamon and geranium. Cinnamon continues the spice from the start, geranium adds a green, slightly rosy lift, and agave flower a faint sweetness. This stage is the bridge where the scent starts leaning toward cocoa.

Cacao, vanilla and wood
Dark chocolate, Madagascar vanilla, Bourbon vetiver and Indian sandalwood close the scent. The perfumer's cacao nibs comparison fits here: the chocolate is bittersweet and woody, vanilla rounds it, and vetiver and sandalwood give it a dry, firm base.

What is in the sample?

Does it smell sugary?
It is built around dark chocolate and vanilla, but orange bitters, spices and woods keep it dry and bittersweet. A sample shows how far that balance holds on your skin.
What is the woody side of the cacao?
The perfumer compares it to biting into cacao nibs, a dry and slightly bitter impression. Vetiver and Indian sandalwood in the base help carry it.

About Mind Games
Mind Games takes its vocabulary from chess: every perfume is an 'aromatic movement' named after a move or an idea from the game, from French Defense to Double Attack. Creators Alex and Mariana Shalbaf work with the master perfumers of the fragrance house Symrise, and everything we decant is an Extrait de Parfum. The names give no hint of the smell, mango, cherry, chocolate, coffee, so the sensible opening move is a few 10 ml decants.
