Halfeti is Penhaligon's tale of love in moonlight, with a nod to the legendary black rose of the riverbank, and Christian Provenzano composed it in 2015. Grapefruit, bergamot, Levantine spice, rose and an oud accord are listed as one group, with no top, heart or base. A scent shaped as a tangle is best judged on skin.

Citrus with shadows
Grapefruit and bergamot are the brightest voices in the list, bitter, juicy and clean. In Halfeti they stand next to spice and an oud accord, so the brightness is a contrast, not a freshness. The brand gives no order, so picture all five notes mixed together.

A rose that has been spiced
Rose carries the idea, the black rose of the brand's story. Beside Levantine spice it grows warmer and less sweet than usual, nearer to dark red petals than pink ones. The spice stops it from going soft or powdery, which fits the mysterious mood the brand describes.
