Sparkle and zest
Aldehydes give the first seconds a bright, almost soapy fizz, with lemon, bergamot, grapefruit and mandarin adding juice and a little bitterness. The brand links the zesty grapefruit to the playful spirit of the story. On skin, see how long that shimmer lasts before the garden arrives.

A dewy garden
Cyclamen and geranium add a cool, green-pink freshness, while Rose de Mai, orange blossom and magnolia give a creamier floral body. This is the garden stage, soft and slightly dewy, and the rose here is the nod to Titania's bed. Wear it through the afternoon to catch it.

Moss, wood and a long list
Patchouli, oakmoss and vetiver form the forest floor, with cedarwood and fir balsam adding cool resinous wood. Cardamom, pink pepper, elemi and rhubarb keep a tart sparkle, and benzoin, vanilla and cocoa add soft sweetness. Amber, carrot seed and musk close it dry. Fifteen notes need days, not a single spray.

Test it in spring or summer weather, outdoors if you can, since it is a green, mossy scent that suits fresh air. Put the decant on clean skin and give it the whole afternoon. Try it again on an evening that stays warm and on a cool, damp autumn day, when the mossy base reads more like woods after rain.
Who it is for
People who like green, mossy scents with some sparkle on top and who enjoy a fragrance with a story. If you favour moss and wood over sweetness but still want flowers and citrus around them, it offers all three. It suits anyone and is gentle enough for daytime, though the sample will tell you if the many layers feel busy.

What is in the vial?
A Midsummer Dream Eau de Parfum, filled by FragranceGems from the original 100 ml bottle into a 10 ml glass spray vial and labelled by us. Roja Parfums does not supply it, and we are not affiliated with the house.
Is it a floral or a green scent?
Green comes first: patchouli, oakmoss and vetiver lead, flowers such as cyclamen, geranium and rose follow, and grapefruit supplies the sparkle. The decant shows how green it feels on you.
Does the cocoa make it sweet?
Only slightly. Cocoa, vanilla and benzoin add soft warmth to the base, but rhubarb, cardamom and oakmoss keep the overall impression dry and green, not sugary.
Why test a perfume with so many notes?
Because a long pyramid can read as tidy or as crowded depending on skin and weather. A decant gives you several wearings to decide whether the layers work together for you.

Roja Parfums was founded in Mayfair, London, in 2011 by Roja Dove and calls itself a house of haute perfumery. The formulas are long: a single pyramid can run to twenty or thirty notes, from citrus and lavender through roses and jasmine to tobacco, resins and oud. Most perfumes exist as an Eau de Parfum and as a Parfum. Compositions this layered unfold slowly and differently on each skin, so a 10 ml decant worn over several days is the fair test.
