A blossom caught on the tree, not in a bottle
Neroli Oranger builds one idea from five named materials: Tunisian orange blossom absolute at the centre, lifted by Tunisian neroli oil and Italian bergamot oil, softened by Comorian ylang-ylang and floral musks. Aurélien Guichard composed it in 2019 for Matière Première. A perfume this focused on a single flower is easy to enjoy or to overdo, which is where a sample comes in.

The blossom itself
Orange blossom absolute is the core: honeyed, a little green and richly floral. The brand wants the blossom still on the tree, not a thin floral water, so the absolute is meant to be the substance of the scent. That is where the pure, radiant sensuality the brand speaks of comes from.

Lifted, not lightened
Neroli oil and bergamot oil lift the absolute. Neroli is the fresher, greener and slightly bitter side of orange blossom, and bergamot adds a bright citrus spark. Together they keep the honeyed depth from turning heavy or syrupy, and the flower stays airy.

Cushioning
Ylang-ylang from the Comoros adds creamy, rounded softness with a hint of the exotic, and floral musks smooth the edges into something skin-like. They cushion the citrus and the neroli, so the overall effect is soft, clean and floral rather than sharp.

How to test it
Try it in daylight and on warm days, where it is meant to live. A small amount on the neck and wrists is enough to follow how the absolute and the neroli trade places. Wear it at least twice, once somewhere formal and once on a plain day, to see whether the soft musks suit your routine.

Suited to orange blossom lovers who want the flower clean and radiant rather than heavy and sweet. The house calls all its fragrances gender neutral. It may also suit people who rarely wear florals, since bergamot and neroli keep the picture light and clear.

What is in the decant?
10 ml of Neroli Oranger Eau de Parfum, filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle into a glass spray vial and labelled by us. It is not a brand sample and Matière Première is not involved.
How do orange blossom and neroli differ here?
Both come from the orange tree. Orange blossom absolute is the central material, and neroli oil adds a fresher, greener lightness, so the scent joins honeyed depth with brightness.
Is it a citrus perfume at heart?
No, mostly floral. Italian bergamot supplies a bright citrus note, but the centre of the scent is orange blossom absolute, with citrus acting as a lift.
Why no top, heart and base?
The brand publishes five materials and no pyramid, so we list them as one flat list and do not assign levels.

About Matière Première
Matière Première is the house of one perfumer, Aurélien Guichard, and of one rule: each perfume is built around an overdose of a single natural raw material, named on its page. Finnish birch tar, Greek saffron, Omani incense, a rose he grows himself in Grasse. The project began with the first fields he planted in 2016. A material in overdose is either exactly your thing or not at all, so test it as a 10 ml decant before you commit.
