Citrus, then fruit
Lemon, bergamot, red mandarin and orange open it with juicy zest. Mandarin and pineapple are the notes the house puts first, and pineapple returns in the heart, so citrus slides into fruit. It stays fresh, but the green notes behind it hold it in check.

Jasmine and cistus
Jasmine lends a soft, warm floral glow, and cistus a dry, amber-like resin with a trace of honey, a bridge from the fruit to the forest below. Pineapple remains as a bright accent, yet the scent turns greener and earthier, like stepping from a sunny clearing in among trees.

A deep green base
The long base list leans green and resinous, with galbanum, elemi, fir balsam and cypress giving evergreen coolness, patchouli and oakmoss for a mossy floor, sandalwood and frankincense for depth, and rum, tobacco, leather, ambergris and musk in the shadows. The house calls it green, rich, sensual and powerful.

What does chypré mean here?
It is the house's own word for the family: a fresh, fruity chypré. In practice that means citrus and fruit over a green, mossy and resinous base rather than a sweet one.
Is the decant from the original bottle?
Yes. We fill a glass spray vial with 10 ml from the original bottle and label it. It is a decant, not a Roja Parfums sample, and we are not affiliated with the house.
Is the pineapple sweet?
Pineapple is a leading note, but it sits among green, resinous and mossy notes, which keep it dry and serious. How sweet it feels is personal, which a few trial days will show.
Is Apex fresh or woody?
Both. It starts fresh and fruity with citrus and pineapple and moves into a woody, green base with fir, moss, sandalwood and frankincense.

About Roja Parfums
Roja Parfums was founded in Mayfair, London, in 2011 by Roja Dove and calls itself a house of haute perfumery. The formulas are long: a single pyramid can run to twenty or thirty notes, from citrus and lavender through roses and jasmine to tobacco, resins and oud. Most perfumes exist as an Eau de Parfum and as a Parfum. Compositions this layered unfold slowly and differently on each skin, so a 10 ml decant worn over several days is the fair test.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again.
