Pepper, sunlight, smoke
Pink pepper opens with a dry, bright spark, and the solar salicylate adds a warm, sunlit sheen, the kind of light you expect on open water. Incense is present from the first minute, so the start is already a little smoky and resinous and not simply fresh.

Ink and brine
The heart holds the idea of the whole scent: a black ink accord that the brand calls sweet and cloudy, a salty accord for the brine, and opoponax, a balsamic resin with a warm, slightly sweet depth. Salt and sweetness sit side by side, and that is what makes it moody.

As the brand puts it, ambergris holds the composition together, with benzoin as a soft sweet resin and musk for a clean, skin-like finish. The brand marks ambergris and musk as synthetic notes. In the base, the sea fades into something warm and softly salty.

Zoologist names every perfume after an animal and gives each one to a different perfumer, whose name is printed on the box. Victor Wong founded the house in Toronto in 2013, and he is frank about the result: the brand calls its range creative, artistic and strong, not mass-appeal, and does not recommend buying a full bottle without trying a sample first. A 10 ml decant lets you find out whether Bee, Squid or Tyrannosaurus Rex is an animal you can live with.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again.
