Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur is an amber composed by Maurice Roucel in 2000, which the house itself calls its hottest. A short, bright start
Bergamot, mandarin and lavender are the only fresh notes in the pyramid. They give a brisk, slightly herbal first impression that passes quickly. If you are curious about the scent, do not judge it here; its character shows once the citrus has faded.

The warm centre
Amber, vanilla and musk share the heart and are blended so closely that you may not separate them. Expect resinous warmth, creamy sweetness and a soft, skin-like density all at once. This is the stage the house means when it speaks of heat, and the one that tells you whether the scent is for you.

Will it feel too sweet?
It reads warm more than sweet: vanilla adds creaminess, while amber, sandalwood and musk keep the impression dry and close. Your own skin is the best judge of that balance.

About Frederic Malle
Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle opened in Paris in 2000 with nine perfumes and one idea: the perfumer is the author, so the name goes on the bottle like on a book. Dominique Ropion, Maurice Roucel, Olivia Giacobetti and Jean-Claude Ellena work here with complete freedom, time and materials. The results are generous, often extreme in one direction, a rose pushed to its limit, a tuberose in very high dose, which is exactly why a 10 ml decant beats a quick sniff in a boutique.
