Milk and a pinch of nutmeg
The listed top is a milky accord with nutmeg, so there is no sparkling citrus start. What you notice instead is a smooth, slightly sweet softness with a small warm spice on it. If you expect a fresh blast, this opening will be calmer than that.

The heart brings iris, rose and cashmeran. Iris adds a cool, powdery shade, rose a gentle floral note, and cashmeran a cosy, woolly warmth. Together they are the bridge between the milky start and the wood, and they keep the transition gentle.

Is it very sweet?
Vanilla and the milky accord bring sweetness, but sandalwood, iris and nutmeg temper it. It is better described as creamy than as sugary, though your skin will decide how it falls.

Ex Nihilo was founded in Paris in 2013 by Sylvie Loday, Olivier Royère and Benoît Verdier, three people from the luxury world who hand emerging perfumers carte blanche and, the brand says, the finest raw materials without cost constraints. The perfumes sit in four universes, floral, ambery, woody and citrus, and lean on modern materials such as Ambrofix and Akigalawood. Their airy, abstract style is easy to misjudge on paper; a 10 ml decant on skin is the fairer test.
