A quick flash of ginger
Bergamot and ginger open the scent with a cool zest and a little pepper-like heat. The citrus keeps the start clean, and the ginger sets a first, slightly sharp edge. This phase passes within minutes, so do not judge the whole perfume on it.

An all-wood heart
Cedarwood and Akigalawood™ make up the heart. Cedar gives a dry, clear line and Akigalawood™ a wider, modern woody shape. With no flowers to soften them, the effect is severe and slightly mineral, which suits the black stones the house talks about.

Vetiver and musk to close
The base is Haitian vetiver, with musks and tonka bean around it. According to the brand, the musks and Akigalawood™ combine into a lingering trail. Tonka adds a gentle roundness so that the vetiver, earthy and dry, does not feel stern.

About Ex Nihilo
Ex Nihilo was founded in Paris in 2013 by Sylvie Loday, Olivier Royère and Benoît Verdier, three people from the luxury world who hand emerging perfumers carte blanche and, the brand says, the finest raw materials without cost constraints. The perfumes sit in four universes, floral, ambery, woody and citrus, and lean on modern materials such as Ambrofix and Akigalawood. Their airy, abstract style is easy to misjudge on paper; a 10 ml decant on skin is the fairer test.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again.
