Saffron and rose oud on white musk
French Avenue Cosmic Tonka is an Eau de Parfum that opens with bergamot and saffron, moves into agarwood and Bulgarian rose, and rests on white musk, tonka bean, amber and oakmoss. A short pyramid with a rose and oud heart is simple on paper, and a 10 ml decant shows how that heart sits on your skin before you consider the 100 ml bottle.

Bergamot and saffron
Two notes open the perfume: bergamot for a bright, clear start and saffron for a spiced edge. FragranceGems describes the combination as sparkling and rich in spice. With only two top notes the opening is quick to follow, and saffron is the one to watch if you have found it difficult before.

Agarwood and Bulgarian rose
The heart pairs agarwood, also called oud, with Bulgarian rose. FragranceGems calls it a lush core with oriental depth. Rose and oud together draw strong opinions, so this stage is where you learn the most about whether Cosmic Tonka is for you.

Put one spray on the wrist in the evening on clean skin and a second on a scarf or sleeve, and compare the two as the evening goes on. Smell the saffron first, then the rose and oud, then the musk and tonka as they take over. Wear it again on a second evening and see which of those stages you enjoy most.

Is Cosmic Tonka heavy because of the oud?
FragranceGems lists the intensity as moderate, with a base of white musk, tonka bean, amber and oakmoss. Whether the oud feels heavy depends on your skin, which a few test days will show.
Why is tonka in the name but not in the heart?
Tonka bean is listed in the base, where it adds the soft, warm roundness. The name points to it, while the heart is built on agarwood and rose.
Can I test it in warm weather?
FragranceGems lists it for autumn and winter, but a decant lets you try it on a mild day as well. Notice whether the saffron and rose feel too thick or just right.
