Pear against roasted nuts
Pear and hazelnut give the opening a luminous softness, which cardamom and the roasted sesame set against. The pear is clean and juicy, the hazelnut rounder and a bit buttery. Together they start the scent soft without being sticky.

Flowers and a pinch of cinnamon
In the heart orange flower, cinnamon and freesia take over. Orange flower brings a mild white-floral sweetness, freesia keeps it fresh and airy, and cinnamon adds a thin line of warmth. The mood stays gentle and a little spiced.

Vanilla, guaiac and white musk
The base brings vanilla, guaiac wood, Ambroxan, sesame and white musks. Vanilla and the musks create the cottony, milky feel the brand speaks of, guaiac adds a dry, smoky wood note, and sesame returns as a toasted echo of the start.

How to test it
Wear it first on a cool autumn day or an evening in, on clean skin and with a restrained hand. Then try it in milder weather to see whether the pear keeps it light for you. Note the moment when the sesame returns in the base, since that is where it differs from many sweeter vanilla scents.

What exactly is in the sample?
A 10 ml decant of Elevation, filled by FragranceGems from the original bottle into a glass spray vial and labelled by us. It is not a brand sample and Les Eaux Primordiales is not involved.
What does cottony mean for a perfume?
It is the brand's word for a soft, warm, slightly milky feel. Here it comes mainly from white musks, vanilla and Ambroxan in the base, and nothing sharp stands out.
Is Elevation very sweet?
It is warm and leans gourmand, yet not syrupy. Cardamom, cinnamon and guaiac wood add dryness, and hazelnut and sesame pull it away from plain sweetness.

Les Eaux Primordiales calls itself a manufacture de parfums and means it literally: Arnaud Poulain founded the house in 2015 near Arras in northern France, and everything from the first sketch to the bottling happens on its own wooded estate. The ranges borrow their names from science, Superfluide, Supercritique, Supermassive, and several materials, amber, oud, appear in more than one weight. Samples let you compare those weights before choosing.
