Herbs and incense
Thyme and clary sage give a dry, green, slightly bitter start, with incense adding a cool, smoky thread behind them. The brand says saffron is dressed first in thyme and sage, so on the decant the saffron itself is still hiding, and you should not expect it up front.

A raspberry and blackcurrant heart
Raspberry and blackcurrant come next, round and a little tart, with jasmine and lily of the valley adding a white-floral lift. It is the one soft passage in a scent that is otherwise dry, and the passage that decides for many people whether the perfume feels wearable or too fruity.

Saffron, woods and suede
In the base the saffron meets cedarwood, guaiac wood and suede. Cedarwood contributes clean dryness, guaiac a smoky hint of sweetness and suede a soft, matte feel. The result is a leathery, spiced finish close to the skin, and it is the stage to take your time on.

Wear the decant in the evening or on a cool day, when dry spice and suede feel natural, and let the first stretch pass before judging. Come back to it later to see how the red fruit has settled against the saffron. Try it once with wool or knitwear on, and once in a plain shirt, to see if it feels different.
Who it is for
People who prefer spice and texture to sweetness: saffron, suede and dry woods. If you enjoy fruit in a perfume but not as dessert, the raspberry and blackcurrant heart may interest you. It is a poor match for anyone after a clean, soapy or very light scent, and the sample shows that in a day.

What is in the decant?
Saffron Superfluide Eau de Parfum, filled by FragranceGems from the original 100 ml bottle into a 10 ml glass spray vial and labelled by us. Les Eaux Primordiales does not supply it, and we are not affiliated with the house.
Is it sweet or dry?
Mostly dry. Fruit comes from raspberry and blackcurrant, yet herbs, incense, woods and suede keep the whole spiced and textured, not sugary. A decant shows how fruity it gets on you.
Can I test it in summer?
You can, with a light hand, but the saffron, guaiac and suede base is warm and dry, so it feels more natural in cooler weather and in the evening. The sample lets you try both.

Samples let you compare those weights before choosing.
