Pineapple and coconut on sandalwood
Khadlaj Island is an Eau de Parfum that opens with pineapple, iris, ginger and cypress, moves into coconut and woody notes, and ends on tonka bean, sandalwood, amber and ambergris. Pineapple tempered by cypress
Pineapple, iris, ginger and cypress start the perfume. FragranceGems says the fruity energy of the pineapple is tamed by the dry, green accents of cypress and the elegant iris. Ginger adds a thread of spice across the top.

Coconut and wood
Coconut and woody notes form the heart. The coconut gives a creamy, almost tactile softness according to FragranceGems, and the woody notes keep it from tipping into sweetness. This is where a holiday mood is supposed to appear.

A warm, salty base
Tonka bean, sandalwood, amber and ambergris close the perfume. FragranceGems calls the ending salty, warm and slightly sweet. Sandalwood and tonka add softness, and ambergris is the note to watch if you want to catch the salty side.

How to test it
FragranceGems tags it for summer and autumn, daily and evening wear, so try it in daytime sun and again as the evening cools. Apply once to the forearm. Notice whether the coconut stays creamy or turns sweet for you, and whether the cypress remains in the picture.
Who it is for
For people who like gourmand, woody perfumes with a tropical touch, and who want a coconut that is not simply sweet. If coconut in perfume has disappointed you before, the dry cypress and iris in the top make this one worth a fair test.

Is it very sweet?
FragranceGems describes the finish as warm and slightly sweet, with a salty touch from ambergris. The recorded cypress and ginger add dryness, so it is not framed as a sugary perfume.
Is it a beach perfume?
FragranceGems speaks of a vacation feel from the coconut, and the pineapple fits that picture. Woody and amber notes make it more grounded than the name suggests, so test it before assuming.
Is it a strong perfume?

Khadlaj Perfumes was founded in 1997 and is based in Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates, where it manufactures its own perfumes. The house describes its range as a mix of rich oud compositions, floral pieces and contemporary fresh perfumes, sorted into lines such as Karus, Shiyaaka and Onyx. FragranceGems carries five Khadlaj Eau de Parfum as samples, one from each of those three lines plus two from Island.

Shipping was 5 days to Finland. Customer service was very good. Happy with the product also. Will shop again.
