Raspberry and citrus over leather and oud
Bacio Immortale, the 'immortal kiss', takes its name from the myth of Eros and Psyche. Christian Petrovich, who founded Argos in 2014, set bergamot, lemon and raspberry against violet and jasmine, then let leather, smoky oud, birch and vanilla take over. The start is bright and the finish dark, so a 10 ml decant lets you meet both halves first.

A bright, tart start
Bergamot and lemon open clean, and raspberry and pepper join almost at once. The effect is fruit and spice in the same breath, with a tart edge. It is lively, and it gives little warning of how much darker the rest of the perfume will be.

Violet with leather already in it
The heart pairs violet and jasmine with leather and pink peppercorn. Leather is present early, so the flowers never stand alone: violet brings a cool powdery note, jasmine some warmth, and the leather holds them both in place.

Oud, birch and vanilla
The base is dry and dark. Leather returns with oud, birch and musk, and the brand calls the oud smoky. Birch adds to that impression, while vanilla sits quietly underneath and stops the finish from turning harsh or too sharp.

How to test it
Choose a cool evening and give the decant room: leather and oud need some space around them. Apply it to clean skin on the chest or the back of the neck, and come back to it at the end of the day. A second test in colder weather will tell you how the base behaves.
Who it is for
Unisex, as the brand states, and aimed at people who like leather, oud and birch but want citrus, raspberry and violet at the front. If you usually pick soft, powdery or sweet perfumes, the dry and smoky base may take some getting used to.

What does the name mean?
Bacio Immortale means 'immortal kiss'. Argos links it to Eros and Psyche, whose love survived trials as far as the underworld and ended with Psyche being made immortal.
Does oud dominate?
Not alone. It is one of several dark base notes beside leather, birch and musk, and the citrus, raspberry and violet at the front matter just as much, so this is not a pure oud perfume.

Argos is a Texan house, founded in Dallas in 2014 by the self-trained perfumer Christian Petrovich, and every one of its perfumes retells a Greek or Roman myth. The style is rich and layered: rum and tobacco, roses and raspberry, citrus over cashmere wood and Mysore sandalwood, blended and macerated in the brand's own laboratory in France. Because each perfume is built as a story with a long base, a 10 ml decant tells you more than any spray on paper.
