The first minutes are bright and prickly: lemon and bergamot to brighten, ginger and cardamom to warm, pink peppercorn for a dry crackle. It reads as a quick flash of heat, and it is the lightest stage, so do not judge the whole perfume from it.

Resin and darkness at the centre
Labdanum brings a sticky, amber resin, lavender gives a tidy aromatic line, and agarwood darkens everything. This stage is dry rather than sweet and shows the character the brand has in mind. If you enjoy it here, the rest will probably suit you too.

Argos draws on Rubens' painting of Phaeton, who lost his grip on the sun chariot and was brought down by Zeus. The perfume is built as a bold, dramatic spicy-woody composition for night-time.
Is the decant the same as the bottle?
Yes, it is the same perfume. We pour it from the original bottle into a 10 ml glass spray vial and label it. It is a decant, not an Argos sample, and the house is not involved.
Is it only for evenings?

Argos is a Texan house, founded in Dallas in 2014 by the self-trained perfumer Christian Petrovich, and every one of its perfumes retells a Greek or Roman myth. The style is rich and layered: rum and tobacco, roses and raspberry, citrus over cashmere wood and Mysore sandalwood, blended and macerated in the brand's own laboratory in France. Because each perfume is built as a story with a long base, a 10 ml decant tells you more than any spray on paper.
