Fruit and spice first
Plum and cinnamon start it, and there is no citrus to cool them down. The warmth is immediate and a little closed, like stepping indoors. Spend a few minutes here before you judge the rest, since this opening is what most people react to.

The leather shelf
A leather accord takes the heart, with violet beside it as a floral counterpoint. This is the stage that carries the library picture. It is quieter than a bouquet, and it either feels like a quiet reading room to you or it does not.

Woods at the bottom
The base is made of birch woods, patchouli and vanilla. Dry wood, earthy patchouli and a soft vanilla sweetness give the finish its weight, and none of it is rushed. The brand calls the scent intense, and this is where you notice it most.

About Byredo
Byredo was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham and turns memories and emotions into scent: a dance in Africa, a desert flower, a library, a nomadic life. The Eau de Parfums are built on a small library of raw materials, ambrette, sandalwood, violet, vetiver, and most of them stay transparent and close to the skin. That restraint is exactly why a sample helps: on paper they can seem simple, on skin they settle into something personal.
