How to test them

Spray it on the inside of your wrist or elbow and do not rub. Check it after a few minutes, around midday and in the evening. Note what you think each time, and read your notes back at the end of the week. Leave other perfumes off that day, so nothing interferes.

A sample is the sensible first step: a perfume on paper and a perfume on skin are rarely the same thing. Keep short notes per perfume; after a week the choice usually makes itself. Skin, weather and habit change how any perfume comes across, and a sample shows you your version of it.

Are these samples made by the brands?

No. They are decants: FragranceGems fills each one from the original bottle into a glass spray vial and labels it. They are not official brand samples.

How many samples should I try at once?

Two or three is a good number. Wear one per day, on clean skin, and write down what you notice in the morning and in the evening before you move to the next.

What is a decant?

Perfume moved from the original bottle into a smaller vial. Ours are filled by FragranceGems into glass spray vials and labelled by us, so you can wear a perfume before you decide on a bottle.
